Morally obsolete. An honest review of the NVIDIA RTX 5060 has been released
YouTube channel Hardware Unboxed has published one of the first independent reviews of the new entry-level GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card . Although it is built on the new GB206-250 chip and has fast GDDR7 memory, its limited capacity - the same 8 GB - has become the main reason for controversy and criticism.
The tests showed that the performance at 1080p is generally in line with the RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB and RTX 3070, but the new product simply does not have the power reserve for new gaming projects. At 1440p, the problems become more obvious, and in many games at maximum settings, the RTX 5060 lacks video memory: in STALKER 2 at maximum settings, the video card showed only 6 frames per second. And even NVIDIA's proprietary frame generator does not save in such conditions: for the technology to work normally, an acceptable base frequency is needed.
In games with ray tracing, the RTX 5060 shows only a modest increase over its predecessor. For example, in Alan Wake 2, the card was 20% faster than the RTX 4060, but it lost to the RTX 4060 Ti with 8 GB and still suffers from a lack of memory, which affects texture loading problems and overall performance. In other projects, such as Spider-Man and Dying Light 2, the picture is similar: the new product is slightly faster than the 4060, but does not reach the level of older models of the previous generation.
According to the blogger, the GeForce RTX 5060 is an outdated product, since 8 GB of video memory is no longer enough today. For comparison, the new Radeon RX 9060 XT from AMD received 16 GB and costs $349 - only $50 more expensive than the RTX 5060.
Let us recall that technical experts were also not delighted with the more expensive GeForce RTX 5060 Ti .
